So far I am 2-0 in the bowls.  I suppose I should just quit there, but I am going for 32-0.  Here are the next four bowl games, only 28 to go—damn this may take a while.

Saturday, Dec. 22   8 P.M.  Las Vegas Bowl

UCLA (6-6) vs. #17 BYU (10-2)  Line: BYU by 6.5

UCLA beat BYU very early in the season and both teams went in different directions afterward.  UCLA ranked #11 went 4-6 for the rest of the season and BYU (after losing the following game) ran off 9 straight victories.  UCLA fired their coach and will be coached by interim head coach and former defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker.  It is hard to beat the same team twice in the same season, coupled with they way each team finished the season I don’t see UCLA pulling this one out.  I see the same score but different outcome.

Final Score:  BYU 27  UCLA 17

Sunday, Dec. 23  8 P.M.  Sheraton Hawaii Bowl

#24 Boise St. (10-2) vs. East Carolina (7-5)  Line:  Boise St. by 10.5

Most people are expecting a rather comfortable victory by Boise St.; they have an explosive offense and ECU is no juggernaut on defense.  ECU finished off the year well after losing to Virginia Tech and West Virginia early in the season.  They finished 6-2 in Conference USA, and I think they will give Boise a good game but fall short in the end.

Final:  Boise St. 45  ECU 31

Wednesday, Dec. 26  7:30 P.M.  Motor City Bowl

Central Michigan (8-5) vs. Purdue (7-5)  Line: Purdue by 8

This is another rematch of an early season game.  Purdue won the first game 45-22 on Sept. 15.  The MAC champions Central Michigan have the most explosive player in this game in QB Dan LeFavour.  LeFavour has thrown for over 3000 yards and rushed for over 1000 yards.  This will not be a pretty game for either defense.  As with the BYU-UCLA game, these are two teams going in different directions that played earlier in the season.  I see Central Michigan getting their revenge in a shootout.

Final:  Central Michigan 43  Purdue 38

Thursday, Dec. 27  8 P.M. Pacific Life Holiday Bowl

#11 Arizona St. (10-2) vs. #19 Texas (9-3)  Line: Texas by 2

This is one of the more intriguing non-BCS games, it actually is more intriguing than some of the BCS games.  These are two good teams who are right where they should be.  They beat the teams they should have beaten through the year, and had trouble with the teams they should have had trouble with.  Colt McCoy, the Texas QB, is having the sophomore slump, or jinx, or whatever you want to call it, and threw 18 interceptions.  Texas has trouble defending the pass after losing some players to the draft last season.  I’m going to go with Arizona St. in a close one, as I like Dennis Erickson in a big game over Mack Brown.

Final: Arizona St. 34  Texas 29
