Nebraska has finally decided to get rid of their head coach, Bill Callahan, and the only question I have is why the wait?  There was no way that this man could contribute to a turnaround at Nebraska and he would only continue to hurt this once powerful dynasty.  Interim Athletic Director Tom Osborne announced the dismissal one day after the Cornhuskers ended the season at 5-7 following a 65-51 loss at Colorado.  Trust me if you allow Colorado to run 65 pts up on you, then you shouldn’t even coach high school football.  Now one wonders who could take over such a storied team, and methinks that Tom Osborne would be the perfect fit.

Although I am sure his career in coaching is over, there is still that part of me that would like to see him lead the team again. I think it is mighty suspicious that he would come in as a temporary Athletic Director, I think this is all a part of a plan for him to assume the helm as head coach.  He may have been brought in, just in case Callahan let the University down, as sort of a plan B- but that’s all speculation and hearsay on my part.  Whoever comes on, they have got to be a better coach than Callahan- that guy just plain can’t coach in any form of football. He blew it with the Raiders, although he led them to the Super Bowl and now he blew it with the Cornhuskers- here’s some advice, try the CFL (Canadian Football League), so you don’t have to squander another American team again.
