I still don’t understand this whole Brett Favre situation, and I wish someone could explain it to me. Favre wants to come back after his tearful retirement. Big deal! Yes it makes him look like a putz, but does that really have anything to do with football.

Did the Packers change their entire offense to the point that one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time could not possibly understand it? Has Aaron Rodgers proven himself to be better than the quarterback that took the Packers to the NFC championship game and a 13-3 record? How many games have transpired since Favre retired?

These are of course rhetorical questions because everyone knows the answers. The answers prove the point that either the Packers are making one of the most illogical and insane decisions in sports history, or that Brett Favre really did something to piss them off.

Aaron Rodgers may end up being a pretty good quarterback, but he is not Brett Favre. Favre is coming off one of his best seasons and the Packers are a young and talented team. In the age of win now, does a franchise really want to waste a talented team by putting the offense in the hands of an unproven player who has not thrown a pass that mattered in his entire career?

I understand the fact that the Packers want to move forward and that Rodgers is their QB of the future, even though they drafted Brohm and Flynn. However, the future is now for the Packers. They have the talent, and their young players have some good playoff experience from last year. Bring back the face of the franchise and the best QB on your team. Bring back the guy who knows how to win the big one and take one last run at the Super Bowl with him.

This whole Favre saga has been one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. I can’t be convinced that Rodgers is better than Favre and while the retirement is annoying, there are much worse things that other players are doing. It’s pretty simple. If you want to win, let the best players on your team play.

Here are my words of wisdom for the Packers. Don’t give up on the present when it looks brighter than your future.
